The AFA is thrilled to provide this special, curator-led tour of Nick Cave: Forothermore at the Guggenheim, led by Naomi Beckwith, Deputy Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator.
Nick Cave: Forothermore will be a survey exhibition encompassing works from all stages of Nick Cave’s career. A combination of sculpture, video, installation, and rarely seen early works, Forothermore reflects Cave’s desire to create space through art for marginalized communities.
The exhibition is divided into three parts titled “What It Was,” “What It Is,” and “What It Shall Be,” reflecting on the artist’s family and upbringing, his engagement with the feelings of loss, mourning, and celebration, and lastly his response to injustices experienced by himself and those around him. This monumental survey exhibition delves into Cave’s development and blossoming as an artist amid the late 20th and early 21st centuries and the collective pain and joy experienced during these times.
